For more than 20 years I've told travel stories that encourage parents to raise global citizens without sacrificing their own travel dreams, and led by example. My features appear in National Geographic (where I've has been a Contributing Editor, Contributing Writer and Columnist), AFAR, Travel + Leisure and Condé Nast Traveler, among other publications.
I've appeared on and hosted, travel segments on television shows across North America including CTV's The Social; CHCH Morning Live, Good Morning
America and CBS Sunday Morning. I hosted the award-winning podcast Tarmac Warriors, and am a guest columnist on CBC Books’ The Last Chapter. .
My stories and appearances stress the importance of living your bucket list, and of seeing travel as a pathway to understanding ourselves, each other and the world around us.
Among the awards I've received, National Geographic’s 2012 Travelers of the Year honour (awarded to my family after our yearlong, non-stop, family trip around the world) remains one of my most treasured. I've also received awards from the Society of American Travel Writers, Travel Media Association of Canada, American Society of Journalists and Authors and the Family Travel Association, where I was named 2020's Person of the Year.
When not travelling, you'll find me in Toronto, Canada with my husband Ish and our sons Ethan and Cameron.
